This time I'm really goin' off--Fireworks

So, of course it's been forever since I've posted. I feel like I wouldn't have anything interesting to post about, but I gave up and just decided to start typing.

First off, I love Drake's new cd, my post title is compliments of track #1 (despite the fact that I really have nothing to "go off" about...I'm actually having a great summer). Here's a youtube video of the song, in case you feel like my writing is so boring it needs a soundtrack to be bearable.

Next, I found this awesome site (so sue me if I'm the last one to jump on this bandwagon), Etsy. According to the site itself, their mission "is to enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers." And their "vision is to build a new economy and present a better choice: Buy, Sell, and Live Handmade."

Very interesting. The site has really unique stuff, and most of it is pretty reasonably priced. Here's a really cute ipod case I like.

Something that I really don't want to talk about, but, here we go---especially because I think I am forming an ulcer from the subject---is LBJ. Let's face it, today could really be one of the worst days EVER...the only way I could consider breathing normally for the rest of July would be if he (of course) stayed in Cleveland, or went to Chicago. Nate's from Chicago for one, so I am already an avid follower, but also, who didn't grow up watching the Bulls in the 90's? I guess if there's one thing I could tell Lebron it would be to seriously, like seriously, stay. Ok? Just stay. Your family is here, and I spent over sixty dollars on my Witness hoodie, so I don't really feel like burning it. KTHNX.

And, for those of you who don't really care either way, here's a picture of his boob:

I would hate to end on that depressing note, so I'll end with this: I just signed up to receive my Americorps education award, most of which will be coming to yours truly in a refund check towards the end of August. HOLLA!

I'm so old!!

So I have been attempting to write blog entries...I've just been so busy. Here's an old draft from May that I never finished until today:

So I don't have denchers, don't wear my mauve slacks up to my nipples, and don't fart with every step---YET. Here are a few reasons as to why I feel the old age creeping:

1. I just scheduled my last regular semester of classes as an undergrad...just some methods and student teaching then I will finally be a graduate.

2. I just had the last party/ bar night with my friends out here. No more fun times in Bowling Green...all finals studying from here on out.

3. I'm moving in with Nate---am I really allowed to do that? What's going on here, why aren't my parents telling me I'm too young? That must mean that I really AM old enough to move in with my boyfriend. Oh God.

What's more exciting though, is that I was introduced to a blog called Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh, and she has been making me laugh all weekend. I guess blogs can be funny, insightful, witty, and talented. Who knew? She does all of her drawings in "Paint," and she's really good at it.

I also facebook stalked her and requested to be her friend, only to find that hundreds of other people have done the same thing within the last couple weeks. Her blog is definitely worth reading, she has a really funny sense of humor...for a good example read "How a Sandwich makes you it's bitch in 11 Easy Steps."

That's about it...I'll have personal stories about using my Buckeye card and what it's like to live in a nursing home by the next time I write...at the rate I'm going.

Something old, something new...

So some interesting things have been happening. I messed up big time with this whole blogger thing...apparently I started a blog in 2006 (completely forgot) and had this whole other account, I can't get rid of it, so I am following my own blog right now. How ridiculous. More importantly though, I got to read my old entries (there were four), and I thought it was pretty hilarious.

SOMETHING OLD:
What was life like the 2nd half of freshman year for Heather Keller? Escapades with Addison to pick up her then boyfriend Aric from the airport, getting my camera stolen, having my dad come pick me up from the dorms, missing my friends from high school, some weird party at Charlie's where "
nate ended up kissing some guy on the cheek as we were leaving and the guy kept saying that nate and i were related and we made out haha, he called us hansel and gretel? i dunno i was drunk. some guy had a weiner dog named rocky and he kept humping addisons sisters boyfriend's leg, which entertained me for quite some time. i carried rocky around and drank charlies bud light acting like a total diva." HAHA.

A Starbucks reference that pretty much sums up my entire freshman year made me laugh so hard...which I will be sending the entire blog post to Addison:"
Anyways since starbucks wasn't flexfunds this weekend the dorms could burned down and addison and i would have still been the happiest 2 latte loving bitches on the planet. so we drank our caramel macchiatos and headed for c-bus...meanwhile aric is getting wasted at the airport bar with quote: "two lovely ladies (although i'm sure they were men) from kansas city"."

One would assume that what ever I think is okay to be writing in my blog now will obviously be a huge embarrassment later (and learn from experience), but it just makes me want to keep writing even more. It was sooo weird to read about my every day life back in ol' Harshman Anderson, so why not relive 2010 in five years? I officially recommend blogging/journaling to anyone...especially if you're a freshman in college and do really weird/stupid stuff and want to entertain yourself when you get old and boring, like I so thoroughly enjoyed today.
SOMETHING NEW:

I got a tatty with my mom yesterday! We wrote love for each other and I got it tattooed on my wrist, and she got it on her shoulder with a butterfly. It was an interesting experience...I thought I was going to freak out, but it wasn't too bad (considering mine too about a minute and a half).

In other irrelevant news I think the Jennifer Lopez Southpark episode gets funnier every time I see it (why I have yet to figure out), Angela and Kenny are working hard on their new house and I can't wait to see it, Dyers is visiting all week and they shall be returning from fishing at some point...I'm ready for PS3! I only have a couple weeks left of school and living with roommates...soon Nate and I will be "cohabiting" in Perrysburg, which feels so weird to say. How adorable...just a couple years ago we were making out at parties where people thought we were related and now we're living together. We've come so far.

(And after reading that old blog I certainly have, too. Although that's not necessarily a good thing!)

My First Post!

So let's see.

Lately I have really been enjoying reading blogs. At first I thought it was a waste of time, but as of late I think it's really interesting to see others' thoughts, and posts, etc.

Why am I writing one?

I think it's an extension of my daily journal...except I don't keep one anymore and also I think this "journal" will be much better considering the internet tool as my advantage. I don't expect anyone to read this, or comment...although those things would be pretty cool and appreciated, but this is more for me. Things for me to remember..whether it be bookmarking a website or recipe, a book or movie review, or whatver. A facebook status on steroids, if you will. So if anyone is reading, welcome to my blog, and I hope you find it interesting.

Thoughts for today:
I've learned that I don't want to teach at an alternative learning center like Pathe. So many students are leaving, and it makes me sad that my once prospering reading group is now dwindling down to 1-1 1/2 students. This is a good thing though---of course I want them to go back to their home schools, and of course if they are going back that means the people at Pathe have made a positive impact on their lives, but I would much rather have students for the year, like in a resource room...so I can make a difference, or hey maybe finish a book.

Secondly, I don't get this sex division. Why does it always have to be boys vs. girls? Or guy time vs. girl time? Any thoughts? Trust me, I love hanging out with my girl friends alone (i can't think of any guy friends that want to talk about how much they hate Jessica Simpson, or how cool the new Kotex line is---which, is pretty cool fyi), but I think some people just take it to the extreme. Without being cliche (but...here we are:) why can't we all just get along? I guess I have this view because I grew up with boys, and many of my friends today are still boys. I don't see the need for everyone to be seperate, or that you must have a division of the sexes in order to be with your "friends." And shame on those who aren't open to try.

I was pleasantly surprised today while watching the food network and I thought I would share this recipe. Robin Miller is usually really boring, and her recipes reflect her personality...but today she turned it around. Also, the fact I rarely see my boyfriend means the fishing must be pretty good (not to mention I have been obsessed with artichokes lately).

Lastly, those of you who are like me, live in a white walled apartment, and find it severely depressing, here's an idea: it's called Tempaper...like wallpaper but it peels off like a sticky note, leaving no damage. You will, however, have to be able to afford it, it runs about 60-80 bucks for one large wall. However, still cool. (FYI stole this from another blog, thanks Lee.)

Here's the review from a site, but you can find a bunch of different patterns at http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/

I'll end with a quote:

My friend Dan was telling me about this English teacher he knows, and this quote he told him...I found it really inspiring: "Make sure you always teach like you are about to get fired. That's the only way you're really going to make a difference."
