So let's see.
Lately I have really been enjoying reading blogs. At first I thought it was a waste of time, but as of late I think it's really interesting to see others' thoughts, and posts, etc.
Why am I writing one?
I think it's an extension of my daily journal...except I don't keep one anymore and also I think this "journal" will be much better considering the internet tool as my advantage. I don't expect anyone to read this, or comment...although those things would be pretty cool and appreciated, but this is more for me. Things for me to remember..whether it be bookmarking a website or recipe, a book or movie review, or whatver. A facebook status on steroids, if you will. So if anyone is reading, welcome to my blog, and I hope you find it interesting.
Thoughts for today:
I've learned that I don't want to teach at an alternative learning center like Pathe. So many students are leaving, and it makes me sad that my once prospering reading group is now dwindling down to 1-1 1/2 students. This is a good thing though---of course I want them to go back to their home schools, and of course if they are going back that means the people at Pathe have made a positive impact on their lives, but I would much rather have students for the year, like in a resource room...so I can make a difference, or hey maybe finish a book.
Secondly, I don't get this sex division. Why does it always have to be boys vs. girls? Or guy time vs. girl time? Any thoughts? Trust me, I love hanging out with my girl friends alone (i can't think of any guy friends that want to talk about how much they hate Jessica Simpson, or how cool the new Kotex line is---which, is pretty cool fyi), but I think some people just take it to the extreme. Without being cliche (but...here we are:) why can't we all just get along? I guess I have this view because I grew up with boys, and many of my friends today are still boys. I don't see the need for everyone to be seperate, or that you must have a division of the sexes in order to be with your "friends." And shame on those who aren't open to try.
I was pleasantly surprised today while watching the food network and I thought I would share this recipe. Robin Miller is usually really boring, and her recipes reflect her personality...but today she turned it around. Also, the fact I rarely see my boyfriend means the fishing must be pretty good (not to mention I have been obsessed with artichokes lately).

You will, however, have to be able to afford it, it runs about 60-80 bucks for one large wall. However, still cool. (FYI stole this from another blog, thanks Lee.)

Here's the review from a site, but you can find a bunch of different patterns at

My friend Dan was telling me about this English teacher he knows, and this quote he told him...I found it really inspiring: "Make sure you always teach like you are about to get fired. That's the only way you're really going to make a difference."
